Google finally announces the turn-by-turn Maps Navigation, at no cost! The new navigation software includes features like 3D views, turn-by-turn voice guidance and automatic rerouting. The sad part is that  it initially only will be released for Android 2.0 phones. In step two it will be supported by iPhones and hopefully in the third step it will support other phones as well. Anyhow, I think that this might be the start for the totally free navigation era where the traditional navigation companies have a really tough day.

You have probably already read about BigDog from Boston Dynamics. They now present their new robot, Petman. When we first saw Petman it totally freaked us out, it is so futuristic and human-like! Boston Dynamics says that Petman will primarily be used to test chemical protection clothing for the US Army. So, you will probably have a hard time to find one for your personal use…

A puzzle box with GPS that makes treasure hunts modern

 

This good looking puzzle box was built as a wedding gift by Mikal Hart. The catch is that it only opens when it is in a certain location. The puzzle is to discover just where that exact location is. There is a button and an LCD display on the box. When pressing the button the display shows you how far away from the goal you are. Since you do not get the direction, you need to trangulate to figure out the location. But be careful, you can only press the button 50 times.
